Description:
Donald W. Linebaugh Presents His Book "The Man Who Found Thoreau: Roland W. Robbins and the Rise of Historic Archaeology in America". After finding the ruins of Thoreau's cabin at Walden Pond, controversial archeologist Roland W. Robbins excavated the Saugus Iron Works from 1948 to 1953. He then surveyed and excavated many industrial, commercial, and domestic sites in Massachusetts, New England, and other eastern states through the 1980s.
Donald Linebaugh, Director of the University of Maryland's Historic Preservation Program and Associate Professor in the School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation, will explore Robbins' place in the development of the field of archeology.
