Please note that this contest is now over; the answers have been posted.
Well, it's quite a bit different from last year's contest, although it's the same T-shirt design. Whereas last year you had to figure out a particular place in town based on a clue, go to that place, obtain the certificate hidden there, and return the certificate to the Saugus.net booth, this year you merely have to figure out the answer to a Saugus trivia question and bring that back to Saugus.net booth. Easy, huh?
We'll be handing out clue sheets all day at the booth. Plus, just before Founders' Day starts, we'll post a copy of the clue sheet online here (download a PDF copy for printing). There's a winner for each question; the first to answer correctly gets a free T-shirt.
The questions range in difficulty from the simple to the nigh impossible. Some answers can be found online somewhere on the Saugus.net site; others can be found on various plaques and memorials scattered through town; others can be found in the Saugus Public Library; still others can be found in the recently published book A Gathering of Memories: Saugus 1900 - 2000. In fact, since we played a big role in publishing A Gathering of Memories, a couple of the questions can only be answered by searching through it.
Throughout the day we'll be updating a master chart showing which clues have been figured out, and we'll even show the answers as they come in on a poster at the booth. If you keep tabs on what has been answered during the day, you should be able to avoid wasting time trying to figure out the answers to questions that have already been answered.
When you bring your answer back to the booth, we'll verify its correctness and then we'll give you your T-shirt and mark that question as answered on the booth poster.
Not really; this whole thing is being done in a spirit of fun. If you're one of the lucky ones who manages to figure out a question and win a T-shirt, wear it with pride and a sense of accomplishment at a job well done.
