We noticed that all of the flags on
display around town seem to be either the modern 50 star
Stars & Stripes or the "Betsy Ross" version (13 stars in
a circle). Please
let us
know if you see any of the more unusual American flags like:
- the "Cowpens" (12 stars in a circle around a
thirteenth)
- the "Bennington" (13 stars in a sort of arch over a
76)
- any of the valid forms of the Stars & Stripes with
fewer than 50 stars (13, 15, 20, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28,
29, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38, 43, 44, 45, 46, 48,
and 49 are all legal -- 16 & 39 were produced in
limited quantities but were never legitimate)
- the "Gadsden" (rattlesnake)
We'll post pictures of any such flags with the
others.
